The Plan Check
Six questions for people already on Medicare who want an honest read on whether their plan is still the right one.
Is something not working?
Medicare plans change every year. Formularies shift, networks narrow, premiums creep up. If something feels off — a drug got more expensive, a doctor left your network, a claim was denied — this tool helps you name the problem and understand your options.
It won't tell you which plan to pick. It will tell you what's wrong, when you can act on it, and what to watch out for before you make any move.
Private. No email required. Nothing to sell.
Your answers don't point to a specific plan failure — but if something still feels off, it may be worth a conversation with a free SHIP counselor who can review your actual plan documents. See the next steps below.
Before you cancel your Advantage plan: the Medigap health screening risk
You're on Medicare Advantage, want to switch, and have ongoing health conditions. This matters:
If you want to move to Original Medicare with a Supplement (Medigap) plan, private insurers in most states can ask about your health history and decline to cover you — or charge significantly more — because of existing conditions.
The rule: Apply to a Medigap plan and get approved before you cancel your Advantage plan. If you're declined, you still have your Advantage plan as a fallback.
